Whilst the 1st team have been gaining match time over the last week, the Development Squad have had 2 friendlies to get them going for the upcoming season in the Hampshire Combination & Development League.
Tuesday 11th - Home against the Merley Cobham Sports Reserves. A hard fought 3-2 narrow victory. With new players and a couple of U18s, a decent run out with plenty to work on. New player Cissokho opened the Hamworthy scoring, the 2nd being an own goal and Jamie Kemp got the winner.
Saturday 15th - Away to Ringwood Town Development. With the Ringwood Town 1st team having to cancel due to a player contracting COVID-19, their Development squad were able to step in and play as they are in a separate "bubble". After gifting an early goal, the Hammers managed to fight back and go into the break 2-1 up only to let Ringwood score a late equaliser for a 2-2 draw. Manager Mick Wearden thought a draw was a fair result and is looking forward to the team gelling more after the introduction of many new faces. Harry Grant and Tom Green the Hammers scorers.
