A decent game of football last night at the County Ground saw the Hammers remain in the driving seat in the league after a tough encounter against probably their nearest rivals who asked for the fixture to be switched.
Jamie Beasley opened the scoring on 12 minutes after good work by Joe Wearden on the right. Managing to shield the ball from the cross at the near post, Jamie turned the defender to shoot home from close range.
After a good shout for a penalty, the Hammers surrendered their lead on 37 minutes with Poole equalising from a rebound after a penalty was originally well saved.
3 minutes into the 2nd half and Hamworthy were ahead again with Max Buckler and James King combined to allow Drew Eccott-Young to show some quick feet and a good finish from just inside the box.
Poole began to push forward looking to level the match and were looking more and more dangerous as the match progressed. In the 46th minutes they managed to get the equaliser to share the spoils with a good finish to the goalkeeper's right from the edge of the box.
The Under 23s need 4 points from their last 2 games to win the league and the last match is.....the return fixture against Poole Town which will be at the County Ground (1st June), possibly with spectators allowed!
